Ken Tsuboi, CFA

Ken Tsuboi, CFA, serves as Chief Investment Officer of McMorgan & Company, where he is responsible for investment-related functions including developing the firm’s investment strategy, monitoring sub-advisory relationships, and overseeing the firm’s Managed Accounts Platform. He also serves as Chair of McMorgan’s Investment Committee and manages the firm’s currency hedging program.
With extensive experience across equities, fixed income, and private assets at major investment institutions, Ken brings a disciplined, research-driven, and risk-aware approach to portfolio management and asset allocation. He spent 18 years with Allianz Global Investors as portfolio manager for the AllianzGI Health and Science fund, where he gained significant experience in sector-specific investment strategies and actively managed institutional portfolios. Ken’s earlier career included roles at Payden & Rygel and Morgan Stanley, which provided him with comprehensive fixed income and credit analysis experience. He joined McMorgan in 2020 from Alan Biller and Associates, where he served as Managing Senior Consultant, providing specialized investment advisory services to several of the firm’s Taft-Hartley pension and health & welfare trust plans.
Ken’s unique background combines strong analytical experience with practical understanding of institutional client needs, enabling him to design investment solutions that address both return objectives and risk management requirements for McMorgan’s clients. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Biochemistry and received an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA and is also a CFA charterholder. He is based in San Francisco.
